The SA&AM Cluster

The Silesia Automotive & Advanced Manufacturing (SA&AM) Cluster is an initiative of the Katowice Special Economic Zone Co. which aim is to support automotive and advanced manufacturing companies.

The idea behind SA&AM is to establish the Śląskie and Opolskie Voivodeships as a Central European competence region for the automotive industry.

The SA&AM Cluster aims to build a strong cooperation and best practice exchange platform for companies and educational and research institutions.

SA&AM Cluster gathers more than 150 members. Among them about 30 member are providers and integrators of Industry 4.0 technologies who want to disseminate experiences from the implementation of digital transformation processes in industrial enterprises.

With them, SA&AM runs the the Digital Transformation Program - Evolutionary Industrial Modernization in the Era of the 4.0 Revolution. During the series of events technology providers present successful implementations and offers of companies present on the Polish market, which allows manufacturers to learn about the possibilities of using integrated IT systems, advanced production techniques or new business models in the company's operations.

SA&AM coordinator, the Katowice Special Economic Zone Co., is the leader of Digital Innovation Hub SILESIA SMART SYSTEMS -  platform for cooperation between business support organizations, scientific units and universities, focusing on supporting industrial enterprises in the processes of digital transformation.

Main areas of SILESIA SMART SYSTEMS specialization are:

  • Automation and robotics (Computer Integrated Manufacturing),
  • Cyber security,
  • Additive technologies and new materials for 3D printing,
  • One-stop-shop - horizontal „soft measures”, including training and consulting, which prepare companies for the digital transformation process.
